Event Background
This event will be held to celebrate two important milestones in the lives of people in the Caribbean Diaspora.
-
- 12th Year of Caribbean Heritage Month
- 5th Year Anniversary of Caribbean Business Connections
In June 2005, the House of Representatives unanimously adopted H. Con. Res. 71, recognizing the significance of Caribbean people and their descendants in the history and culture of the United States. Since the declaration, the White House has issued an annual proclamation recognizing June as Caribbean-American Heritage Month. This year marks the twelfth anniversary of June as National Caribbean American Heritage Month.
In June 2012, Caribbean Business Connections, CBC, was founded by Sandra McCarty and Hanif Russell to fill the need for effective business networking among people in the Caribbean Diaspora. CBC’s mission is to provide a networking platform to its members where they can connect, aspire and achieve. Members are able to make the right business connections, meet their next client and identify resources that help them become more successful.
