Rihanna’s Fenty Eyewear was on sale in her island home for a hot 48 hours.

The colloquial phrase, “better late than never” aptly applies to the recent launch of Fenty Eyewear Collection in Barbados. The business mogul may have given the world Fenty sunglasses last year in 2019, but they came ashore in the 246 on Saturday (November 7) at a posh, intimate launch event.

Local eyewear brand, Eye Q Barbados debuted the luxury brand by global sensation Rihanna at their Limegrove Lifestyle Center location. Eye Q is one of the few selected stores in the Caribbean to carry the brand.

Chatting with Loop, Owner of Eye Q Barbados, Alicia Hartman, said that they sought to celebrate Barbadian “queen and gem” Rihanna during this month of Independence.

In anticipation of the launch to the public, Eye Q Barbados shot its own Fenty campaign with Barbadian creatives at distinctly ‘Bajan’ locations. The campaign was photographed by Jaryd Niles Morris, with styling by Junior Sealy and the featured model wearing the stunning new FENTY sunglasses is Bajan beauty, Ashlee Constance.

“We are so proud to be one of the only stores in the Caribbean carrying the brand so it is very special for us. . . . We wanted to make sure the Fenty brand was represented in the true Fenty style but at the same time embrace the Bajan culture,” she revealed.

The local response to the launch of Fenty Eyewear has been nothing short of “amazing”, with items selling out in two business days. Speaking to Loop Business on the tremendous response to the brand, Hartman indicated that Rihanna is beloved locally, and her ambition resonates with many young people.

“Everybody loves Rihanna, she represents so much to us. From where she began to what she is now, she makes us so proud. It is really a dream to reality and it is wonderful to see that. it is really inspiring,” Hartman remarked.

“She represents young Barbadian ambition, and I think it is really important, particularly in this time when everything is on a down . . . for us to be inspiring to young people,” she added.

Hartman shared that shoppers who missed getting their Fenty sunglasses before they sold out today don’t need to be disappointed. The brand will be restocked in two weeks!
