Jamaica’s Chukka Caribbean Adventures will be managing Harrison’s Cave before yearend.

In a press release dated October 20, 2020, the Caves of Barbados Ltd (CBL) announced “it has selected leading nature adventure tour company Chukka Caribbean Adventures (Barbados) Ltd (Chukka) to manage the day to day operations of the Harrison’s Cave.

“This partnership will take effect on December 1st 2020.”

Chukka operates in Jamaica, Grand Turk, Belize, Dominican Republic, St Lucia and soon in Barbados.

This company employs over 500 people in Jamaica and over 700 in the Caribbean. It is a family-business which started in Jamaica.

Caves of Barbados said that four bids were received and Chukka was “chosen based on the high quality of their submission which offered a strong proposal for investment and development of the attraction. The selection of a shortlisted bid was then followed by months of negotiation of a contract led by a Government appointed college of negotiators.”

The statement also indicated that the principals from Chukka will be on island in November for a media conference.

It also asserted that as part of the process, Harrison’s Cave’s “employees and their representatives have been fully apprised of the developments and have been working collaboratively with CBL on the necessary transition arrangements.”
